Bikebug is proud to be supporting Australia’s newest UCI Continental team, Nero Continental. The Sydney based team’s progression to the UCI rank in just its 4th year of existence is off the back of a successful NRS (National Road Series) campaign, combined with international wins at this year’s UCI 2.2 Tour Of The Philippines.
"We are incredibly excited about the opportunities 2020 will present both on and off the road" commented Team manager Luke Manion, "it may seem like a quick rise to the UCI ranks, but it has only been made possible with partnerships like the one we have made with Bikebug”.
On the road, the squad sees the return of Jay Vine for 2020. Vine lead the NRS at the midway point of the 2019 season, and is eagerly looking forward to the team's first real challenge, the Jayco Herald Sun Tour in February.
It is no secret that Campagnolo has not been seen in the domestic Australian peloton for some time, however, that is all set to change in 2020, with Nero Continental running Campagnolo Record 12 Mechanical groupsets and Campagnolo Bora WTO Wheelsets supplied by Bikebug.
The team will be seated on Selle Italia saddles, with power provided by the pedal based Favero Assioma system.
Nero Continental have a passion for approaching bike racing from a different angle, Team captain Chris Miller emphasised this when he admitted "we want to rattle the cage a little when it comes to bike racing in this country, whether that be on or off the bike. Really, we want to open bike racing up to every cyclist and grow the sport and it's profile in Australia".
Nero Continental will begin their 2020 campaign at the Cycling Australia Road Nationals. Make sure you follow their journey on their Instagram account or on their popular YouTube Channel.
