Brisbane local, Dave McAdam, is about to embark on an epic feat: cycling across Australia from Perth to Brisbane!
Dave “Diesel” McAdam will depart from Fremantle, Perth on the 7th of July to start his bike journey, travelling 4300km across the centre of Australia. He has given himself just 14 days to complete this epic ride, so he'll need to average an unbelievable 300km a day!
This is an extremely tough challenge for any cyclist, and Dave has said, “it’s going to be the biggest physical challenge of my life.”

In preparation for this epic feat, he has stepped up his training, riding around 700km a week. All of this whilst juggling full time work and family commitments.
Why has he undertaken such a tough ride? Dave’s motivation behind the ride is a personal one. He has been inspired by his two-year-old niece Freya, who has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an inherited, life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system, and there is currently no cure for CF.
Dave has decided to take a positive step forward by putting the wheels in motion, aiming to raise $250,000 through out his charity ride, inspired by Freya.

The money raised will go towards Cystic Fibrosis research that will contribute towards finding a cure. The research is being carried out by Professor Claire Wainwright and Peter Sly, and their work is acclaimed internationally.
