The 2x12-speed Chorus crankset is a true concentrate of technology and versatility.
Technically advanced thanks to unidirectional construction technology in carbon fiber, it is produced directly molded without any surface coating and features an Ultra-Torque steel spindle like the Record crankset. It is versatile thanks to its bolt circle diameter of 123 mm, while giving it an extreme-performance structure, also ensures a greater variety of applications. The smaller BCD on the Chorus crankset makes it compatible with 52/36, 50/34 and with 48/32T chainrings.
Technologies
X.P.S.S.(Extreme Performance Shifting System) -X.P.S.S.incorporates a project with a specific goal: giving Campagnolo's groupsets the best shifting performance possible. And the Campy Tech Labhas hit the mark once again.
The design of the chains up shifting and downshifting has been analyzed to the smallest detail with mathematical functions to simulate possible movements of the chain on the chainrings and design optimal angles. Furthermore, repeated lab tests on the speed and precision of the shifting action have allowed Campagnolo to complete the product's optimization.
Ultra Torque -Campagnolo found a way to permanently conjoin the semi-axles of the bottom bracket to the respective crankset arms. This redesign made it possible to considerably reduce the lateral dimensions at the axle level and prevent annoying contact with the ankles when turning the pedals.
Assembly is simplistic: one single oversize bolt is enough to integrate the two semi-axles. With regard to torque transmission efficiency, this system is equally as effective as a single piece axle.
Features
The Q Factor remains the same (145.5mm) - The widths and biodynamics of the stroke are the same.
Ultra-Torqueaxle - Pressure on the pedals is transmitted efficiently without any power loss.
Differentiated number of pins depending on the cheinring combination -Constantly optimum engagement of the chain. Maximum shifting efficiency.
Double bolt circle diameter -Assembly of the large chainring on the crank is guaranteed by a bolt circle diameter of 123 mm, while the inner chainring will be mounted directly on the outer on 96mm BCD.
Symmetrical teeth on the internal chainring -Smooth, precise transmission, even with extreme cross-chaining.
Compatibility
To ensure the functionality of the mechanical Super Record, Record and Chorus drivetrains, Campagnolo recommends to avoid the use of older components at shifting groups from 2015 on. A distinctive marking, a squared letter as in picture 3, helps recognizing actual shifting components. The letters of the corresponding parts (right Ergopower and rear derailleur / left Ergopower, derailleur, cups and crankset) should match.
The Campagnolo BB cups are not included in delivery.
