Tubeless Rim Tape For Road or Off-Road Wheels
Suitable for both Road and Off-Road wheels, this Effetto Mariposa Cafflatex Tubeless Rim Tape seals spoke holes and makes standard wheel rims air-tight. It allows tubeless conversion of most wheels, using Tubeless or Tubeless-Ready tyres and Cafflatex sealant.

For 20-24 mm Rims
Thanks to its low memory, Cafflatex Tubeless Rim Tape provides increased stability because it doesn't 'spring back' once put down in the rim channel. This particular listing represents the Cafflatex Tape S Shop packaged version made in Italy for rims with external section between 20 and 24mm. It provides 50 metres of 20.5mm wide rim tape.

Adhesive Strength
State-of-the-art adhesives are used in Effetto Mariposa Caffelatex Tubeless Rim Tape. It doesn't have the immediate tack of natural rubber glue used in cheaper tapes but over time it develops a stronger bonding and is much more tolerant to temperature and humidity changes and aging. Fun Fact: It can even stick to silicone-treated paper.

Easier Tensioning
Caffelatex Tubeless Rim Tape rolls offer a small core of just 1 inch instead of the usual 3 inch-diameter cores of most tapes. This serves to save space and to make tensioning easier while taping the rim (try inserting the thumb inside the core, it happens very naturally).

Re-Sealable Bag
This product is delivered in sealed packaging to preserve the tape properties over time. Please be sure to fully lock the re-sealable bag between each use.


MOUNTING TIPS
Before gluing Cafflatex Tubeless Tape inside the rim, you should carefully clean the rim-bed, removing any trace of grease or lubricant. For this task you may use alcohol or other degreaser, then - VERY IMPORTANT - clean carefully with a clean, dry cloth because adhesion on dried-up alcohol is quite difficult.

NOTE: Use one layer for Mountain (up to 4 bar) and two layers for Road (up to 8 bar) applications.


APPLYING THE TAPE
Start applying the tape 2 cm before the valve hole. Effetto Mariposa Cafflatex Tape is flexible but not stretchable, so it will adapt to surfaces but won't change its length/width when pulled. This is a plus, as a stretched out tape will tend to move and revert to its original size over time, breaking the adhesive bond.

Keep Cafflatex Tubeless Tape tensioned while you apply it, making it stick FIRST to the centre of the rim channel, making sure no bubbles or wrinkles appear. Continue on the whole circumference, always focusing on the centre of the rim channel, until you get past the valve by 2 cm. This way you get a 4 cm double layer across the valve. If possible, avoid finger contact with the last part of the tape, so as to maximise adhesion on the most exposed segment of the tape.

With a clean rug/cloth, push the tape down on the sides of the rim channel, around the entire circumference. This will ensure you get a perfect application. Use a sharp spike or a screwdriver to make a round hole in the Cafflatex Tubeless Tape at the valve hole. It's a good idea to avoid using a cutter knife and doing an "X" cut as this might prevent proper air-tightness at the valve base.
