ENVE SES 4.5 Carbon Wheelset
The ENVE SES 4.5 is built for riders who prioritise speed across varied terrain. Originally developed for the cobbles and crosswinds of Paris-Roubaix, these wheels offer aerodynamic performance and stability for high-volume tires, making them equally suitable for racing or fast group rides on rough roads. The 2022 update reduces weight, improves aero efficiency, and adds anti pinch-flat technology while retaining class-leading handling and confidence.
Performance and design
The SES 4.5 features a 25mm internal rim width and a hookless bead design optimised for road tubeless tires, providing better grip, comfort, and puncture resistance. The wider platform improves stability on technical sections and allows for consistent power transfer. ENVE’s patent-pending Wide Hookless Bead further reduces the risk of pinch flats by providing a more forgiving surface on impact.
INNERDRIVE Premium Hubs
The wheelset includes ENVE’s INNERDRIVE Premium straight-pull hubs, with oversized inboard steel ratchets for positive, reliable engagement and reduced stress on the axle and bearings. The hub allows for interchangeable ratchets (40t, 60t, 80t, 100t) so riders can tune engagement speed to their preference. Straight-pull hub shells mean consistent spoke lengths, easier maintenance, and silent spoke crossings. Anti-twist spoke holes help prevent spoke damage during build and use.
Real-World Fast
Developed with ENVE’s Real-World Fast philosophy, the SES 4.5 balances aerodynamics, crosswind stability, handling, weight, and tire integration. Front and rear rims are optimised differently: the front maximises crosswind stability while the rear improves airflow and drag reduction. The wheels are developed for use with 27–28mm aero-optimised tires and tested under real-world conditions at 32–48 kph.
Tubeless-optimised performance
The SES 4.5 is designed exclusively for tubeless tires. The precise hookless rim and bead design ensures secure seating, optimal tire pressure, and minimal risk of pinch flats, allowing riders to run lower pressures for better comfort, traction, and efficiency without sacrificing speed.
