Kids today have it so good. They’ve got lightweight mountain bikes with high-end tires, fine-tuned suspension, and modern geometry. There’s only one thing they’re missing: a real drivetrain. That’s where Microshift comes in, with a real Mountain Bike Drivetrain for 20" Wheels. Starting with the DNA of their ADVENT mountain bike group, they made every part smaller and easier to use. Lighter shifting, shorter reach, and more ground clearance, all with the same great chain retention, metal construction, and wide range. The shift levers sit closer to the handlebar, and the lever throw per shift is 43% shorter than the competition. No shifter is more dialed for small hands. Most derailleurs don’t fit 20″ wheels, and the ones that do aren’t meant for real mountain biking.

Super Short has the same clutch and metal construction as the standard ADVENT and Acolyte groups, so the groms can ride as hard as they want without the chain falling off. To work better with small wheels and keep the ground clearance high, Microshift designed Super Short to work with an 11-38T cassette. When you pair that with a 20” wheels, you get a gear low enough to scale mountains. ADVENT and Acolyte are popular for a reason, so Microshift didn’t remove any features when they made them Super Short.

ADVENT Super Short Cage Clutch Rear Derailleur

The Super Short version of our acclaimed ADVENT derailleur has all the same features as its larger counterpart, but with a small enough cage to fit on a 20″ wheeled bike. The ratchet-and-pawl clutch and return spring tension have been finely tuned to offset the smaller cage and lighter chain, allowing the derailleur to deliver fast, accurate shifts with a light feel. The fully metal body resists damage and provides extra rigidity, delivering big performance in a small package.

ADVENT H-Series 9 Speed Cassette 11-38

Designed specifically for our Super Short cage ADVENT derailleur, this 9-speed, 11-38T cassette provides wide range and low gears for bikes with smaller wheels. It’s built with the same precision and durability as our wider range cassettes. And yes, it works with a standard HG freehub body and a normal 9-speed chain.
