AB-Lock is a process where a dual compound, adhesive liquid is injected into the nipple thread during manufacture, this compound then dries and remains dormant until a spoke is threaded through the compound. By threading the nipple onto the spoke the adhesive is activated and begins to cure. It is recommended that wheels using AB-Lock be built in one sitting and not finished the following day. However, re-truing the wheel is still possible even after the adhesive has cured completely, abliet with a minimal percentage decrease of its thread holding capability.
