What Is MIPS?
MIPS stands for Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, which is a leading slip-plane technology inside the helmet developed by brain surgeons and scientists to reduce rotational forces on the brain caused by angled impacts to the head. The MIPS system is designed to mimic what your dome and skull do in an impact, namely allow a little bit of movement in order to protect the more important component. In your dome's case, there's a fluid layer between the dome and the skull that acts as a buffer. Wearing a POC Ventral MIPS Road Helmet is the best thing you can do to prevent a catastrophic brain injury while enjoying your favourite sport.

Designed and created using feedback from professional riders in the EF education first, drapac p/b Cannondale Pro Cycling Team, POC's own aerodynamic experts in WATTS Lab, combined with POC's experience and extensive computational fluid dynamic simulation and testing, the Ventral SPIN features a unique design which ensures it is the fastest and safest road bike helmet they have produced.
Impressive Ventilation To Keep You Cool
The Ventral's design leads air through the helmet, instead of around it, which significantly reduces the wake behind it and improves the helmet's aerodynamic properties. The Ventral SPIN has been designed with specific airflow zones in the helmet to create different pressure zones, inspired by the Venturi effect, which has the effect of increasing airflow and speed allowing the helmet to pass through the air with greater ease and efficiency. The airflow zones also create superior ventilation and cooling which improve the overall performance of the helmet.
Great Aerodynamic Performance
Residual air travelling over and around the helmet is managed by an aerodynamically optimised trailing edge, which reduces turbulence and generates a longer linear airflow off the helmet and rider, improving the helmet and rider's aerodynamic performance. POC has been at the forefront of protection and helmet technology for a number of years. To deliver on POC's mission, POC helmets are all developed with their whole helmet concept at the centre of our design process; using optimized materials throughout the helmet.
